COUTTS August 8, 1914 - January 26, 2007 Peacefully on Friday, January 26, 2007 with his family by his side Charlie quietly passed away at the age of 92. Charlie was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1914 and resided there his entire life. At an early age riding his bike, he delivered for a local drug store and drove for Eaton's and the Hudson Bay Company. His focus was always to help his family. From 1940 - 1945, Charlie contributed to the war effort by driving an ambulance for the Canadian Air Force throughout Europe. Once home he married Emma Comack (Millie) and together they settled in East Kildonan. He was active in many community organizations. These included Immanuel United Church, baseball teams, Cub Scouts and East Kildonan YMCA. Charlie was an avid curler and bowler and was also a proud member of the Sons of Scotland. Charlie worked for Brewery Products and later Carlings Brewery until his retirement in 1974 at which time he and Millie moved to Matlock, Manitoba where they spent 20 wonderful years. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Emma, son Bryan (Barbara), grandchildren Chelsea and Chloe, whom were the light of his life, and sister, Elsie Duke. A funeral service will be held at Thompson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February the 2, with a reception to follow. Interment will take place at the Brookside Cemetery after the reception. The family would like to thank the staff of the North One unit at Concordia Hospital for all of their care and compassion.
